How to avoid falling into the drowning situation

Many times you can fall into the drowning situation for an overcay of play. Sometimes you get the mastery of the board in a blunt way. However, if we get carried away by pretending to humiliate our opponent instead of seeking checkmate as quickly as possible, we can corner the king by leaving him in a situation where he will have no options to move. In this way our effort and superiority can be reduced to a draw.
On some occasions, drowning situation you can play in our favor. Many times the difference of pieces between you and your opponent will tell you that inevitably sooner or later you will lose. It's only a matter of time. But getting a draw through the drowning situation can be almost the same as a win considering their real options.
When we manage to move the pawn enough to reach the eighth happens the much desired "pawn coronation". However, don't always lean towards asking for a queen. While the queen is a piece of great value, her great ability to move can play against us when we plan to corner the king. Sometimes it will be better to choose other pieces like the horse which can perform movements that the queen cannot and avoids falling into the drowning situation.
Then to avoid falling into the drowning situation don't get carried away by emotion, respecting your opponent and knowing how to choose the pieces after a pawn coronation.
